Master Portrait Photographers

Marion and Gary Silber have distinguished themselves, over the past twenty years, as one of the most accomplished couples working in the field of elegant, classic, photographic portraiture. While many of today’s photographers have adopted a contemporary, casual, unposed, photojournalistic and fashion-influenced style, Marion and Gary’s work still has the timeless elegance and visual impact of a fine old master oil painting. More than just photographers, Marion and Gary bring a wide range of skills to their clients; they are part photographers, portrait artists, fine custom framers, and even function as interior designers, helping clients incorporate their portraits most effectively and artistically into their homes. They are also very admired by photographic colleagues for their dynamic sales skills as well as their artistic skills.

Although Marion and Gary are very accomplished as individuals, they choose to work exclusively as a couple, creating every portrait project together. They want every client to benefit from their combined sixty years of experience, and they feel this way of working offers clients a depth of skill and experience competitors can’t equal. “It is a matter of synergism – we are more powerful artistically together, than either of us is alone. Our love and artistic respect for one another energizes us, sustains us and empowers our work. Portraits that would be very difficult for a lone photographer, are easy for us to create together.”

In addition to their photography, Gary and Marion are accomplished instructors. People enjoy their warmth, humor and teaching style as they carefully explain not only the “hows” of what they do, but the “whys” as well. “There is a reason we do things a certain way, and we want people who like our approach to understand the thought process behind each element.” Marion and Gary were very active in the 80’s and early 90’s as lecturers and teachers across the country as well as appearances in Mexico, Canada, England, Northern Ireland and Puerto Rico. With the birth of their daughter Wyeth Olivia in 1993, the Silbers retired from frequent traveling and lecture appearances.
